Mantra opens a new $40 million hotel in the heart of Albury, New South Wales

Furthering their presence in regional areas around Australia, Mantra – whose Mantra Group was recently acquired by AccorHotels for $1.2 billion – has opened a shiny new property in the border city of Albury, overlooking its section of the vast Murray River in the heart of the Riverina town. This is the first hotel to open in Albury in over three years, with a built-time of 18 months, an investment of $40 million and a projected injection of least $7 million to the local economy each year.

True to the Mantra aesthetic, this is spacious modern apartment living, with eight levels hosting a total of 146 one and two bedroom studios and suites with views stretching out to the Bongong High Plains and Victorian Alps, drawn into the hotel with floor-to-ceiling windows making for plenty of natural light. Amenities include a Mediterranean tapas restaurant, La Tierra with all-day in-room dining, 24-hour reception, a small internet lounge near the entrance, fully equipped gymnasium, conferencing and events facilities (catering for more than 200 people), and an exclusive Sky Lounge available to hire on the top floor with sky lighting, wet bar and comfortable lounge seating.

“We are proud to bring the Mantra brand to Albury and officially open this fantastic new hotel”, said Mantra Group’s Executive Director of Operations Mark Hodge. “The hotel will play a key role in further elevating Albury’s profile and attractiveness as a leisure and business destination as the hotel appeals and caters to a range of domestic travellers seeking a contemporary hotel stay in this beautiful Riverina district”.

The hotel’s conferencing and event facilities will obviously be a major focus seeing as Albury is a regular stop-over for all kinds of industries, especially for travel between Sydney and Melbourne. Seeing as the city has really come into its own these past few years, with major strip Dean Street populated by modern restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops as well as the Murray Art Museum (MAMA), Mantra’s timing is perfect. The hotel is located just a few minutes walk from Dean Street.

As is tradition with hotel brand’s, Mantra Albury is currently offering up a nicely priced deal to celebrate the opening. A stay in a Studio Room is currently priced at $129 per night with inclusions included 1GB Wi-Fi each day, a drink voucher on arrival and a 12pm late check-out. This offer is valid for bookings until midnight AEST July 31st 2018.
