Tigerair re-launches service between Melbourne and Canberra with special fares

It’s been five years since you could fly directly between Melbourne and Canberra with Tigerair Australia, but daily return services with the low cost carrier are set to return from 8th December 2016, adding more competition to the route currently occupied by Virgin and Qantas.

Canberra, the capital of Australia, is home to the National Gallery, with a huge collection of indigenous art, whilst Melbourne is a top destination choice for international travellers. By introducing direct flights, Tigerair Australia hopes to increase traffic flow of visitors to both cities and ease the demand for low cost air travel options between them. The re-introduction of the route will provide an extra 2,500 seats per week for travellers.

To celebrate the re-launch, Tigerair Australia is currently offering 2000 $59 one way tickets (until 31st August, unless sold out prior). They even gave away 200 free tickets yesterday – but they were snapped up in half an hour. If you missed out on either sweet deal, Tigerair has committed to ongoing fares as low as $69. None of these prices includes things like baggage, or meals – however.
