As we reported last year, Universal Studios in Japan and the USA will be opening a new Nintendo themed area of its theme parks, which will officially be dubbed Super Nintendo World. Now, we can bring you a little more information about what this will look like, and when it will launch.
The first park to launch the new Nintendo themed land will be, fittingly, Japan – home of the iconic video game brand. It’s been revealed that Super Nintendo World will launch first in Japan, before heading to Orlando and Hollywood, just in time for Japan’s 2020 Summer Olympics.
Though the information has not been more specific than this, the first concept art for the park has also been released, giving us a taste of what to expect from the world’s first Nintendo theme park.
The concept art tells us two things about the plans for the park:
- There are three Mario-themed structures planned: Bowser’s Castle, Princess Peach’s Castle, and a large exterior that looks like a world from one of the early Mario games. We would expect this exterior will house one of the main rides for the area.
- There are no plans to feature any Nintendo properties other than Mario at this time, which may disappoint fans of Zelda and Metroid – but this is only concept art after all.
There’s no indication whether this concept art would apply to the all three locations – based purely on the size of the parks, it’s possible only Orlando would get the “World” and Hollywood would get “Nintendo Themed Attractions” – but only time will tell.
Stay tuned for more news on Super Nintendo World as it comes!
