Singapore’s first ever long haul A350-900 flight arrived in Amsterdam yesterday morning, with flight SQ324 touching down in the Dutch capital at 645am, following 13 hours in the air.

Passengers lucky enough to be on the inaugural flight enjoyed a special selection of food and drinks at the boarding gate plus a gift bag with a 1:400 Singapore Airlines A350 model, a postcard set and a commemorative certificate. While on board, all guests enjoyed champagne and a ceremony welcomed the aircraft on arrival.

The aircraft is one of two currently in their fleet, with another 65 on the way. The aircraft had already embarked on crew training flights within Asia in advance of its long haul debut yesterday. This first group of A350s seat 253 passengers across 3 classes, and have been praised for advanced operating efficiency, higher ceilings, and a design to help reduce jetlag. In other words, this is Airbus’ answer to Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner.

Amsterdam is currently the only destination serviced. As the extra aircraft arrive, the A350s will help expand Singapore Airline’s destination list, including Dusseldorf from July. For more details head to their official website.
