Melbourne’s acclaimed urban glamping rooftop hotel announces April closure

One of the most unique hotels in Australia will sadly be shutting down – or should we say, zipping up – later this year. Melbourne’s urban glamping concept St. Jerome’s – The Hotel, the brainchild of Laneway Festival co-founder Jerome Borazio, has announced a sad farewell set for April 25th, packing up their 21 world-class canvas bell tents and moving on from the rooftop of Melbourne Central.

The hotel first popped up back in May of 2015, offering locals and visitors an incredibly unique and atmospheric – throughout their run the hotel has seen over 100 marriage proposals – luxury camping hotel high above Melbourne’s busy CBD. The tents are all ultra-premium 4-6m lodgings spread neatly across a flat space with the trimmings of a luxury hotel including plush queen beds, split system air conditioning units, premium linen, robes, towels, slippers, a tablet loaded with free movies, and an all-included esky stocked with local beers and ciders.

Being part of Melbourne Central also allows the hotel to leverage on a few partnerships for an enhanced guest experience, including free Messina, T2 and breakfast/coffee delivered to the tent (requested anytime via SMS), free bowling at the neighboring Strike, and a few others. Then you’ve got daily morning meditation on the rooftop, a dedicated General Store (with free cocktails at certain hours), ten amenity units with spacious toilet and shower facilities, a very European looking infrared sauna, and an enclosed lounge area.

With the simple reason of being “nomads by nature”, the hotel plans on moving the tents out from the rooftop, packing them out and setting out on “new adventures”. We’re sure whatever that means will be revealed with time, and seeing as the same guy behind it has bought Australia so much fun – Laneway Fest, Ponyfish Island, The Church of Bang Bang Boogaloo, Fat Chance Hotel, Back Alley Sally’s, and most recently, Alone – we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the concept.

St. Jerome’s – The Hotel is taking bookings until April 25, 2018. To book a tent, visit stjeromesthehotel.com.au
