InterContinental Hotels Group has announced a new property for Koh Yao Yoi, the largest island of scenic treasure Phang Nga Bay. Home to the famous James Bond Island, Phang Nga Bay is located between southern Thailand’s mainland and Phuket Island, remaining a popular destination for locals and tourists with limestone cliffs, mangrove forests and pristine islands, the biggest of which will be home to this new high-end hotel as InterContinental Yao Yai Resort begins development.
Set to open early 2020, the new-build property will be a 170-key hotel targeting keen explorers who fancy a detour from the regular destinations that stand close by Phang Nga Bay. It will be just half an hour from Phuket and Krabi airport as well as Phuket and Krabi private piers, giving guests access to smooth arrivals and departures while the experience is bolstered by spectacular views of Bird-Nest Island and Phang Nga Island located 700 metres from the private resort-front beach.
Ranging from 72-square metre ocean view rooms to panoramic views suites, complete with a plunge pool, the hotel will have four main room categories. Families can opt for a room or suite in one of three family-designated buildings featuring water slides, pool access and access to IHG’s Planet Trekkers Programme. Tropical villas make up the other half of the offering, spanning 18 one-bedroom units situated on the lagoon and creeks, to beachfront pool villas, encompassing 10 one-bedroom, one two-bedroom, and one three-bedroom units that boast unblocked ocean views across a kilometre of beach length.
High-end transfer to and from the hotel will be offered to guests along with other amenities like three different restaurant and bar outlets, a gym, pool, spa, resort centre, and a unique Water Facilities Centre to make full use of the pristine location. On completion, the hotel will even have a private sandbank which they will use to host special occasions during low tide periods.
