Adding substantial new character to Hong Kong’s picturesque North Point waterfront is a new twin-tower hotel – Hotel VIC on the Harbour – bringing the bustling precinct 671 guestrooms and suites, with every room boasting panoramic views of both the harbour and the city. With designs on catering to all types of travellers, the property is a precinct of its own, boasting three signature food and drink venues in addition to luxury lifestyle amenities such as a 24-hour gym, rooftop outdoor swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms, and more.
Internationally renowned design studio AFSO has taken care of the lobby with an aim to capture the spirit of “Urban Reflections”, bringing much of the hotel’s harbourside location into the property with reflections throughout the interiors from interlocking marble screens to evoke Hong Kong’s cityscape, to textured glass fittings that refract light to resemble shimmering water ripples. Contemporary art completes the scene, curated across the property with inclusions being a sculpture by Mexican artist Aldo Chaparro placed on top of water above the ground floor lobby, and a modern 3D installation by Canadian artist David Sprigg, displayed at the entrance of the hotel’s 23rd floor restaurant and bar.
Hirsch Bedner Associates are responsible for the guest rooms themselves, and they’ve worked up spaces made to complement the elegant harbour views, with contemporary décor designed towards maintaining a vibrant and energetic atmosphere from the moment guests step inside. Modernity rules the scene here, with a tailor-made smartphone app offering guests various in-room services as well as chat and reservation capabilities. All rooms include a deluxe rain shower and shiny new Nespresso coffee machines amongst other features like free lightning-fast WiFi.
Notably, Hotel VIC is the first property in Hong Kong to provide a “key card kiosk” for guests, a nice little detail highlighting subtle advancements in technology bleeding into the hospitality scene and making life easier for all. Via this, guests are able to access their room key with a QR code sent to them following online check-in prior to their arrival.
As mentioned above, there are three signature restaurants, from all-day international dining destination The Farmhouse on the 2nd floor, with indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the harbour, to the adjoining The Farmhouse Deli, which is a casual spot for freshly made pastries and cakes complemented by house-brewed coffee and a wide range of teas. While The Farmhouse will be the go-to for buffets and international cuisines, the hotel’s 23rd floor restaurant Cruise is a more sophisticated dining experience. The only rooftop bar in North Point, Cruise is defined by its romantic outdoor area with panoramic harbour views, a dining menu and a large list of cocktails and wine.
