Ever wanted to search the Himalayas for the elusive snow leopard? Now you can.

Snow leopard in winter scene

Ready for something new to file under “Bucket List Experiences”? Luxury safari company &Beyond has launched a new 13-day winter expedition to India’s Himalayan region of Ladakh that takes guests on the search for the elusive snow leopard.

The trip will take you to the majestic region of Ladakh, situated on the northern border of India – also known as Little Tibet or the Roof of the World.

The Snow Leopard Expeditions set out in search of rare and endangered animal species in a setting that features the snow-capped Himalaya Mountains, clear cobalt lakes and ever-changing sand dunes.

Whether or not guests will be able to see the elusive snow leopard may not be guaranteed, but you would also be expected to see plenty of wildlife specific to the region, including ibex, Tibetan antelope, blue sheep, shapo, marmot and Tibetan hare. Guests can also expect unique birdwatching opportunities, with snow partridge, golden oriole, snow cock, golden eagle, horned lark and red billed chuff all calling the area home.

Luxury accommodation in “exclusive palace cottages” is also guaranteed across the 13 day trip, while the expedition is headed by one of the region’s most experienced guides; not only an authority on snow leopards but also knowledgeable about the fascinating cultural heritage of the region.

If this interests you, you might want to jump on this quickly – the first expedition departs on 05 April 2017, though the second leaves on 10th January 2018, and a third in March.
