Emirates welcomes its 100th A380 Superjumbo jet

Emirates is continuing its position as the world’s largest operator of the A380 super-jumbos, by receiving its 100th aircraft next month. Since joining the fleet nine years ago, over 80 million passengers have hit the skies in one of the colossal A380 airbuses.

Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline said the airline is continually investing to enhance Emirates service and inflight experience.

“Our frequent flyers will have noticed countless improvements onboard over the years” Sir Clark said.

“They range from minor updates such as the addition of in-seat USB and HDMI ports, to bigger cabin overhauls where for instance we relocated the central overhead luggage bins to create more spacious cabin on the upper deck, and when we introduced bigger and better inflight entertainment systems, amongst many other initiatives.”

The A380 onboard Lounge recently unveiled its brand new look. Inspired by private yacht cabins, it features a more intimate and social area for up to 26 guests, and now has a larger 55 inch LCD screen with surround sound speakers nS live TV broadcasts of the latest news and sports.

The A380 is only one of two commercial airlines that offer the exclusive First Class Shower spa, for passengers in Emirates’ First Class private suites. The spa features a heated floor, shower timer, a hairdryer, and spa products. The airline recently added sustainable VOYA spa products and moisturising pyjamas as an added luxury bonus.

Inflight entertainment has received some exciting updates with Emirates now providing more than double the entertainment with 2,500 channels of blockbuster movies, TV box sets, music and documentaries. Screens have also bumped up a size, with First Class increasing from 27 inches to 32 inches, Business Class from 17 inches to 20 inches, and Economy from 10 inches to 13.3 inches. The entire A380 cabins also features 20 mb of free Wi-Fi, so you can scroll the time away through Facebook and Instagram.
