Disney Parks are getting a lot of new rides and attractions over the next two years

Yeah Disney’s biannual company expo D23 has just wound up its first stop for 2018 in Japan, dropping a slew of trailers for Disney properties and many major company announcements. Among these announcements are a number of high-profile additions coming to Disney Parks across the world including some of your Disney-Pixar faves, a ton of Marvel madness and a trip to a galaxy far, far away.

Pixar Fest coming to Disneyland Resort

A celebration of Disney’s beloved modern animation studio, Pixar Fest kicks off at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park starting April 13. Pixar Fest will see the opening of Pixar Pier at California Adventure Park on June 23, 2018. The attraction will feature four distinct Pixar-themed neighbourhoods to explore along with new attractions, stores and restaurants.

The glorious Paint The Night Parade will be adding a brand new float featuring characters from Pixar’s The Incredibles. The float will see Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, Dash, Jack-Jack and Frozone showing off their superpowers against a backdrop of light and art-deco design reminiscent of the films.

Opening alongside Pixar Pier on June 23 is The Incredicoaster, a brand new roller coaster ride inspired by this year’s The Incredibles 2. Not much else is known about the ride at this stage. All we know is we’re already booking our airfares.

Star Wars… everything

D23 Japan confirmed the rumour that a Star Wars themed hotel was on the way to Walt Disney World Resort, but there’s more to the story. Not only is the hotel Star Wars themed, it is a luxury venue built for total immersion within its own self-contained Star Wars story. Dropship transports bring guests to and from the resort, connecting them to a multi-day Star Wars themed Disney Parks experience. The resort itself connects too …

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a brand new immersive land coming to Disneyland Park at Disneyland Resort and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort. A fleet of X-Wings. A full-size Millennium Falcon. Galaxy’s Edge will also be home to two as-yet unnamed attractions, the first of which will see guests on a Star Destroyer in the midst of a fierce battle between the valiant Resistance and the evil First Order. The second, and be still our childhood hearts, will see guests take control of the Millennium Falcon.

Avengers Assemble

Marvel fans visiting Disney Parks will be very well looked after in the coming year with multiple new attractions opening their doors. The first of these, a Guardians of the Galaxy-inspired new world at Walt Disney World’s Epcot, will feature the single longest indoor rollercoaster in the world. Heck. Yes.

Speaking of roller coasters, Disneyland Paris’ venerable Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will finally retire its long-running Aerosmith theme. In its place will be a re-imagined Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster — a fast-paced, AC/DC-fueled thrill ride with Iron Man and the Avengers.

If all the superhero excitement leaves you feeling like you could use a lie-down, head back to Disneyland Paris’ Hotel New York and its The Art Of Marvel installations. This will be part of the Marvel Summer of Superheroes coming to Disneyland Paris in June.

Hong Kong Disneyland will be getting a new Marvel attraction as well. Following on from the huge success of its Iron Man Experience, Hong Kong Disneyland will be playing host to a brand new attraction themed around Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp. The attraction will see Ant-Man and The Wasp teaming up to battle Captain America’s old nemesis Arnim Zola and his army Hydra swarm bots. Awesome idea for free: a sign somewhere in the attraction that reads “You must be this tall to ride” and a teeny tiny Ant-Man next to it. Have that one on us, Disney.

M-I-C-K-E-Y  M-O-U-S-E

It wouldn’t be a trip to a Disney Park without running into Mickey and Minnie Mouse. A new attraction, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort. A ride through attraction — the first ever to actually star Mickey himself — with its own original story and featuring the style and artwork of the current Mickey Mouse Disney Channel shorts. Your kids are going to flip out for this one.

We feel like we’ve been touring a Disney Park all day just reporting on all this awesome stuff! If you’d like to know more about all these new attractions, head over to the Disney Parks blog!
