Adelaide is getting its first direct flight to mainland China and increased service to Hong Kong

This December, Adelaide in South Australia will receive its first direct service to mainland China courtesy of China Southern Airlines, while Hong Kong’s carrier Cathay Pacific is set to increase their weekly direct services to Hong Kong, which they introduced in 2015.

December 8th will see Cathay add a fifth weekly direct service between Adelaide and their main hub of Hong Kong, bringing their maximum weekly passenger capacity to 2500, up 25%. The news was reported yesterday on The Advertiser, who earlier in the week also revealed the plans for China Southern to introduce a direct service to their hub of Guangzhou three times a week. This will be the first time that the Southern state will have been connected directly to mainland China.

Adelaide has been a popular addition to the itinerary’s of many airlines lately. In May, Qatar Airways launched a daily non-stop service to Doha in the Middle East, simultaneously flying the first A350 into Australia.
