Review: Peppers Broadbeach perfects the quintessential Gold Coast lifestyle

Gold Coast hotel Peppers Broadbeach has long been one of the most sought after and established properties of the area, towering above the city’s skyline with that air of luxury apartment living oft credited to the popular holiday destination. It has everything a Gold Coast hotel should, particularly boasting the best location in all of Broadbeach with roots planted firmly in The Oracle precinct, spanning two towers that bookend the bustling food and lifestyle precinct and offer direct access to some of the area’s choice dining destinations such as Mamasan and Social Eating House (which is located right opposite one of the towers), as well as the best coffee spots, casual food joints, and bars.

The above is an apt depiction of a stay at one of the Peppers brand’s most well-known properties, and it’s very much what you could expect staying here, in addition to genuinely spacious living overlooking those pristine golden sands and a superior view of all the action around Broadbeach. Tower One – where I stayed – is just across the road from Broadbeach Parklands, which links up to the famous beach: an unquestionable location that no doubt has been a big reason for the acclaimed five-star hotel’s award in the past (which include placing lists of the top hotels across Australia, and TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Awards).

A Two Bedroom Ocean Suite is an enormous, open-plan apartment with a generous lounge and room and kitchen, two bedrooms each with large private balconies, and two separate bathrooms. It’s light and bright throughout, reflecting the sun-soaked vista that absorbs quintessential Gold Coast scenery. The master bedroom features the most substantial bathroom, including a large shower and separate bathtub, both which offer views through clear glass so you can still see the balcony (although privacy is possible too) from either.

The bed is as comfortable as you’d expect, boosted by a comprehensive pillow menu that lists options such as duck feature, foam core and curatic medical. Although the standard pillows are comfortable enough for those who don’t need anything more, complemented by even softer linens that are warm enough so you can keep to balcony wide open for a night’s sleep listening to those soft, creeping waves.

While the wow-factor is most certainly at its peak when you first step into the surprisingly large apartment, the hotel’s amenities are just as exciting. There’s a contemporary Club Lounge and Executive Lounge for those who like to keep up the comfort, while kids both big and small will quickly take to the games room, which is located on the same floor as one or two swimming pools. In addition to a well-equipped modern gymnasium and a steam room, serial loungers will most certainly be found relaxing by the pool and hot tub on level 2, part of a much larger space that includes an impeccably maintained zen garden and a Thai Chi lawn for those who really want to wrap themselves in peaceful escapism; it’s impressively quiet for something that’s not too far above street level. If the lap pool is too cold for you, and a hot tub isn’t your thing, then head on up a few floors to the heated pool – this property is big enough to justify two and both are equally large.

Renting out the private cinema following a game of billiards or a dip in the pool(s) is probably the best idea for a night-in, especially if you end it by taking advantage of the in-house Teppanyaki BBQ (on level 4) – that’s if you can resist the temptation of stepping outside and really making the most of The Oracle. As mentioned above, the precinct is packed with the area’s best options (and local musts like Kiyomi and Rick Shores aren’t too far away either – especially if you hire a bike from the hotel).

It’s hard to look past Peppers when thinking about the emblematic Gold Coast experience. You’re basically a few steps away from one of the best stretches of beach, immersed in the area’s most exciting lifestyle precinct, and lounging in genuine five-star comfort. The brand is constantly bought up when Gold Coast’s famously crowded accommodation scene is discussed, and after experiencing it all first hand I feel confident in joining the chorus of voices that are quick to recommend Peppers to anyone visiting.

Rates at Peppers Broadbeach start from $299 AUD for a 1 bedroom suite. This includes daily service, wifi and movies.
