The artworks that fill the walls of the hotel were curated by Art Consultant Lisa Reeves of Design Theory, and feature WA’s emerging contemporary artists. The central idea behind the collection is to give visitors a taste of Perth’s up-and-coming arts culture before leaving the hotel, aiming to show the energy, vibrancy and colour of Perth. As part of the Aloft brand, each hotel around the world features artworks by local artists, which is not only a great opportunity for local artists, but it’s a concept that should inspire many other hotel brands and groups. At Aloft Perth, it was intentional that each of the artworks didn’t match; they are all unique in style and bring a focused energy to the space it’s in. Amazingly, no hotel is a replica of one before it, and ensures that what is on display is in line with the art culture of that city.
With the idea of an open-plan space, it means the flow into each room, or part of the hotel, is natural. More so, the layout of the bedrooms is just as functional. With generous amounts of space given, you can really unpack and give yourself the chance to settle in. Again, artwork and colour are of the upmost importance with specially commissioned wall works by Mike Gray featuring in each room configuration. There’s a real sense of urban style living at the Aloft Perth especially with the use of technology and innovation. Springs Kitchen is a neighbourhood eatery run by Executive Chef Oliver Buenviaje bringing breakfast, lunch and dinner to guests as well as locals. The passion for food comes through each dish, with the finest of local produce filling the menu. Choose from à la carte or buffet, and allow the incredible flavours to speak for themselves. Each dish is a work of art with careful attention to detail in the presentation. For residents in the area, this is a cafe at their doorstep, and a high quality one at that, with the option to dine inside or outside in the warm Perth air. The interior design and colour palates are inspired by the WA landscape with clean pastel accents, and white open spaces allowing a sense of calm while you savour each bite. With a big open kitchen to boot, you can see all the action unfold in an orderly and precise fashion.
Aloft Perth prides itself on creating social scenes and spaces within the hotel to connect with their self-expressing target market. Starting the Live @ Aloft music sessions at the WXYZ Bar initially was a way to connect emerging artists with international clientele. This grew into what is now known as the Project Aloft Star competition. For the first time ever, the competition opened up its perimeters to the Australia/SE Asia market, and in partnership with MTV Asia, the 2017 winner – Mr Headbox of Indonesia – was announced at a live event on Friday October 20th.
